2nd Young Referee Development Exchange with the Danish FA

Ahead of the second Danish Exchange programme of the 2014/15 season, National Referee Manager Daniel Meeson, gives a preview of what lies ahead for some YRDP candidates.

As most of you will be aware on two separate occasions during the course of the season we now operate a Young Referee development exchange programme with some of our counterparts at the Danish FA.

You will recall from the 2014 Conference I spoke at length about the opportunities that would arise for some of you to take part in this programme during your time on the FA Young Referee development programme. In October of last year I was delighted to take Joe Stokes from Kent, Ben Watkiss from Staffordshire and Lauren Browne from West Riding on a 2 part exchange which involves referee training, education and detailed analysis from our respective team of Referee coaches.

Additionally, each of the officials involved Referees and assists on a number of matches both in England and in Copenhagen all of which play an important part in developing them as referees during their time on the YRDP.

It gives me great pleasure in announcing the 2nd phase of the exchange that will occur during March and April of this year and I am very pleased to announce that the FA have selected another 3 referees from the YRDP to represent them in Liverpool and Copenhagen in 2015. Many congratulations can go to the following referees:

  • Louis Stamp – Lincolnshire FA
  • Jack Shepherd – Birmingham FA
  • Sharleen Watkins – Herefordshire FA

Please join me in my congratulations and well wishes to all three of these referees. Please keep a watchful eye on the website for the pictures and stories from both ‘legs’ of the exchange programme.
